This is actually a very interesting pub. It was used by smugglers years ago. There is a tunnel that links the pub to the White Lion in Fobbing and to where the river was. Years ago there was a fire, when they were refurbishing it they found lots of fake walls and secret passageways. The Lanlords of the pub have seen and heard lots of ghostly activity. Anyone got anymore info on this? I'm gonna do a bitof research as I know some people who used to work there.

Hi zinedine, Firstly, a very warm to Essex Paranormal I hope you enjoy the site !! That's fascinationg stuff, I had no idea about the tunnel there. I know the Bull Pub, Is the White Lion the one on the hill at Fobbing ? If you find anything else out from your contacts we'd love to hear about it !! Have you ever had any paranormal experiences yourself anywhere ? Mandy

we(Thurrock Paranormal) investigated the White Lion in Fobbing, as well as other locations in Fobbing. I spent a long time working with the local museum on this investigation as well as a local author. As for the Bull, well sadly we could never track the tunnels to the lion to it, I am not saying there are not there, just that we could find no trace of them .

Hi Lakes , Nice to see you over here mate , Its a shame you could`nt trace the tunnel eh , Is there anything wrote anywhere to prove the tunnel exists ? as i know you do a lot of research on locations before you investigate,It would be good if there was an old map somewhere that highlighted it huh. hi Sean The thing is Fobbing is full of tunnels, I traced one from the old ship in to the church then from the church to the lion pub, but the tunnel splits at the church , one part moves off and heads for a house over the road, it comes up in the shed in the garden. it is said that there is also a tunnel that heads up to Dry Street. I have seen what is left of some of them but most have been filled in due to damp in the location that the tunnels end in. there are no maps of them just hear say.....and that is not a good thing.
