That walkway behind Peter Pans, under the pier, has been blocked off for a while now, but they are having to dig it back open, as it is a public footpath by law.

That's a nice little walkway - or at least it was...

It shouldn't take them long to dig it back out All the ramblers and dog walkers were kicking off about it. It is unfair that they did it really.

Just a little bit of related news - as you are probably all aware, the new Pier construction is all finished and in use, but here are a couple of news related articles; A Mr & Mrs Cooper from Canvey Island were with their baby daughter , Emily and 5 year old daughter, Megan, when Megan decided to run ahead of the family a short way. The lift doors opened and Megan walked inside, but the doors closed within seconds, almost trapping her inside, but was saved as her Dad pushed his arm between the door! Megan could have been sent down to the street level below alone and been dragged along with the crowds of daytrippers! A few weeks later, during the June heatwave, the lift was packed with tourists when it jammed between floors. The intense heat caused people to faint and dehydrate in the lift and the life of a few elderly passengers was in danger. Luckily, one of the people had a small hammer on his penknife and was able to smash a small hole in the glass, enough for some oxygen to get into the lift. Looks like it was doomed from the start

Hmmmm Looks like that girl had one too many alcopops that evening 3 boys named 'Henry' that were all murdered and buried on Southend beach? And she reckons this 'ghost' spoke to her and said his name was 'Henry'!?? Sounds a bit fishy to me! I cannot find any records of any such crimes taking place in that area.

The problem is if you know the history of an area i'e names of the three boys who died there, then it is easy to say you have seen a ghost and that his name was henry.

I grew up in the Southend area and as far as I know, I am pretty well much aware of all the ghosts in the area. I have also been researching Essex murders over the last few years. Seems like someone spun a yarn about a murder and it's played on her mind ;D I could always be corrected on this matter of course, but I'm pretty sure it's a false story

It's become pretty apparent to me, during research, that many murders go hand in hand with ghost sightings and it's fairly easy to find the police records to match a ghost tale Someone probably told this story about the murdered boys to stop someone from hanging about on the seafront
