Has anyone investigated copped hall, it is believed to date back to the 12th century and was once owned by Henry vlll. I went to copped hall about ten years ago, but did'nt witness anything, according to legend flashing lights are supposedly seen around the now burnt out ruin.

Hiya Irishbanshee,
Copped hall is located in Epping, Essex. You may know it as copps hall, as this is what many people call it. Copped hall is steeped in history, not only was it owned by Henry vlll, queen Mary was kept prisoner there, before it came in to the hands of Elizabeth the 1st. During ww1 wounded soldiers were cared for there, and on the 10th august 1775 a man was executed in Chelmsford for burglary of Copped hall.

As far as I know copps/copped hall is the same place, I did some research on copps hall and came up with nothing, yet copped hall is in the right location and sounds as if it is copps hall i.e a burnt out ruin.

Hi All. Copped Hall is in Epping. Epping resident, never been there, although my daughter has been around the ruins (history for school). The new house is owned by Rod Stewart (probably spelt his name wrong). I have decided to go and have a nose around as soon as I get some free time. Make sure you go with a guided tour etc.. you don't want to mess with their security.(so i've been told) Be safe Mayanaka

Lol, years ago if you went there at night, there would be loads of other people there having a nosy, and trying to scare each other.

Oh yeah, I think Rod Stewart lives in Raveners Farm and Copped Hall is part of his estate. He's got his own footie pitch on there too! That's why Rachel Hunter got pee'd off with him... all football, football, football!!!

I believe 'Hangman's Hill' is right nearby to Copped Hall too. You know, it's one of those bizarre places where you park at the bottom of the hill, take your handbrake off and let your car roll uphill on its own. I've asked my huband to take me there soon. Question is, do we go at night? Or will we get arrested and booted out by the boogeymen security guards?
