Has anyone been to Jay's grave, Dartmoor?..Ive heard it has alot of paranormal activity. The claims about fresh flowers appearing everyday i find very interesting as no-one seems to know who places them on her grave.

It does sound like a great place heres abit of the history... This is a grave that stands by the roadside, miles from any churchyard, beside the Widecombe to Manaton road. There is a sad story involved in this little grave, being the resting-place of a young unmarried girl who, becoming pregnant. In the 19th century this was looked on as a real sin so she hung herself in a barn. Suicide was also a sin so they could not be buried in a churchyard. Until 1823, suicides were always buried at a crossroad to stop the spirit of the unhappy soul from wandering. In 1860 a James Bryant was repairing the road and he dug up what appeared to be animal bones. On discovering they were the bones of a young woman, his wife remembered a story passed down by her family about a suicide. The girl was an orphan named Kitty Jay (though some references refer to her as Mary), so it was decided that the bones be re-buried in their present position. To this day there are always flowers and often money placed on the grave, yet no one knows or has ever seen who does this - the Dartmoor Pixies perhaps? It has also been suggested that the eccentric novelist Beatrice Chase, on hearing the sad story may have been responsible.
