Hello all
Has anyone had any reported sightings or experiences of any kind, of the paranormal type, at Westcliff on sea?
I would be very interested as I often walk my dog in the area and have 'noticed' and felt, strange experiences.
Hope is there that can help?

Hi Jo,
I don't know the area myself (being a midlander) but have reasearched and apparently there are reported sightings and activity depending on whereabouts you are in the area.
A Grey Lady, 2 unsavoury male characters and a jovial drunk are the main spirits.

If we have a rough idea of which area of the cliffs are haunted we could meet you over there and see if we can get any good photography.

The area of the cliffs which I 'feel' is between the gardens, near cliffs pavillion and especially near the war memorial and Queen Victorias statue.
I walk this area often and 'feel' that there is a presence in those areas.
My Dog often barks at certain places.
I would gladly meet with anyone with experience in these matters.

Hi Jo Sorry I have taken so long to get back to you.  Again I must say I don't know the area at all, but it appears that a lot of the activity is around a hotel, and yes, it is called the Westcliff Hotel (original huh?). Happy Hunting mate and keep us informed. Annie x |

Hi Annie Thanks for getting back to me I will take a walk to the Westcliff Hotel later,when I walk the dog. You mentioned that there has been activity near the hotel..do you have any more info on that? I still 'see' people walking,as it where, ontop of the cliffs near the Queen Victoria statue. Hello all Just thought I would add to my thread, what me and my partner saw at the Westcliff Hotel  We often walk the area with our dog and yesterday night, we was standing across the road and was looking up at the windows and saw, what looked like shadows of people looking out. We both also saw a bright 'dot' light in one of the windows. Has anyone got any information about this hotel? or can anyone point me in the right direction on the history? Regards to you all |

Hi Joanne,
well it seems that there is very little info on the hotel all I can find is that two rough looking men, a lady and a small dog have all been reported as spirits around the hotel. Have you thought about just popping in or writing to the current owners and asking them if they are aware of any unusual happenings there?

Yes the Westcliff Hotel is haunted - i used to work there lol
A baby is heard cryong at night from a locked off unused storage room. This room was once a hotel room (going back years). The man in there killed his wife, baby then himself.
A woman can be seen looking out of the window - although the window is blocked by boxes!!

The hotel now houses people under the DSS (not all though) and there have been a few murders there, mostly drug related.

Great to see you back !!
I haven't heard much on westcliff recently, the palace theatre is re-opening so im gonna ask when i can get contact details of the new owners.
I know a barber shop off southchurch road is supposed to be haunted (more southend/southchurch than westcliff tho) as the owner spoke to me about it a while back when i was parked outside (saw the car).
i haven't heard any more about the pier but id imagine there may be some more activity there now the works are done and after yet another fire.
Sorry i cant be of more help at the mo
