In this section we will explain what equipment we use, the results we have had with them and tips on how to use them, These items on there own will not prove the paranormal but when there are used together as a set of tools good evidence can be obtained if used correctly,
Basic kit
The basic ghost hunting kit, these items are essential for gathering evidence/notes,
Pen and note pad , take notes of times, weather conditions, people present, temperature and note the time of anything that could be paranormal (noise, smell, lights etc..)
Torch, investigations are usually done at night , this is because most people are asleep and is a quieter time to conduct such investigations, so torches are a must
spare batteries, it has been known on many occasions that batteries will drain in some haunted locations
Camera, 35mm or digital are good but both have their pro's and cons (more on this in the camera section)
Food and drink, some investigations do supply these but most dont, these are important to keep up energy.
More equipment
Equipment for the more dedicated ghosthunter,
To carry out a serious investigation more exotic equipment can be used, these can be to measure the temperature accurately, to measure emf fields, monitoring equipment etc......
good quality digital thermometer, its better to have one that has a fast sample rate and high accuracy
infra red thermometer, these are good as they are instant, but do not record ambient air temperature but the surface temperature, but have given good results, the type with a laser pointer are good but i personally find the laser distracting and has no real use for the purpose of paranormal investigating, the cheaper version with no laser pointer is just as good if not better due to being no laser to distract people during vigils
E.M.F Meter, (gauss meter) These have been sold around the world as "the must have ghost hunting tool", this may be true if used properly, i personally think you should use a few different types (single/tri axis, different callibration) and learn how to use them correctly , this is vital
Monitoring Equipment, video cameras with nightshot seem to be the best thing for room monitoring, for monitoring trigger objects but these should be linked with radio transmitters also cheap night vision webcams are available today, these may be useful for monitoring purposes, avoid other types of video camera as they dont seem to focus in low light making monitoring almost impossible
Dowsing rods/pendulums, these can and are used to good effect if used properly and with practice, these need an open minded investigator to use them effectively,
Environment meters, these are usually combined with temperature, barometer, hydrometer, the thermometer usually has a second (or more) external probe(s)
Trigger objects, these can vary a lot, flour, coins, crosses etc
