Hi Magenta, welcome to the site, look forward to meeting you. As you know many of the ancient peoples, especially Pagan, Greek and Roman peoples practised a very Earth based religion, which had its emphasis very much on the worship of all aspects of nature, and also the elements of nature.
They also believed that everything has a spirit. I can acept that Crystals are part of the essence of the Earrth itself, I like to think of them as nature children of the Earth. As I believe that the Earth also has a spirit, it kind of follows that crystals that are formed from the natural chemical and mineral deposits of the earth, must also be a part of that spiritual essence.
Their energy has been forming for thousands of years, deep within the heart of the Earth. As the Earth herself is a great healer, I can accept that, the essence generated from the crystals hold a healing vibration. Every crystal emits its own energy frequency, and this energy works in harmony with our own human energy field, (provided we have a respect for it). This vibration and the colours of the crystals have an effect, or stimulation upon certain energy centers of the body.
These energy centers govern the working and the balance of all major organs etc, that ultimatley keep the body in good harmony, this means the body has a better chance of healing itself if it isnt fighting, or in friction with, the natural rhythms of our material form. After all the body like everything else of a material nature is designed to have an expery date and ultimatley disintegrate.
But when we recognise that energy is indistructable, it may change form but it cannot be destroyed, then we can come to understand that all energy will have an effect upon our physical energy, for good or bad, it is our responsibility to find out what energy forms have a positive effect, isnt that how healing comes about?. As you proberbly know, the clear quartz crystals can be programmed for a specific function, like healing, other crystals already hold a healing design, in their DNA I supose. For me, Crystals, just like the trees, mountains, waters and herbs, that are a part of the natural world, hold within them a good source of natural healing.

Thank you for that excellent reply. I understand totally what you mean about them being natures children, and I too believe that they embody the healing aspect of the earth.......even being around them, gives you a lovely, almost healing feeling doesn't it.....has anyone else noticed that when they go into shops that sell crystals etc. I went into the shop at Avebury a few weeks back and as soon as I stood looking at the crystals they were selling, I felt so at ease.

I read a book the other day that had information on the stones being used for different ailments, which I can totally understand, I mean, don't we use herbs for the same things.....but what confused me is it never told you how to do it.......so, if I wanted to cure a sore throte, would I put the appropriate stone on the throat and meditate on it?
Sorry if I'm asking a dumb question, but it just confused me!!!.....lol

No question is a dumb question, it means that we are thinking about the options. Yes a sore throat for instance!!! I would look at all the blue crystal veriaties, and then I wouls use my mediumistic intuition, ( which I know you have Magenta) and see what feels right. I like Lapis Lazuli for the throat, it always seems to work for me, (but then I do find a strong afinity with Egypt), as does Blue lace agate. So taking colour into the added energy of crystal power we get a double whammy.

.........Few years ago, when I was a taken my dogs for walk in old rail way, I was a found same stone which was deep under soil, just one corner has been visible.
That is a pendant.
Was (because now is change colour!) navy blue, cutting for flat thin slice in eye shape and is a frame in white metal on edges (may be silver).
At this time I was nothing know about crystals and I just think (I dont know why) that is a maybe bad power hide in this piece (maybe because was a very dark navy/blue colour? - I dont know...).
So, I was a put them in my jewellery box for years and wear just for same occasions - just few times.

Last few months (maybe about 9 months), I start wearing this stone. I newer was clean or recharging them.


At this time I endear for my pendant and automatically I protect hem/her from time to time hiding them under my blouse, when I (for example gardening), because I dont like to damage the stone.
Also when I taken bath, I always separate my pendant, because I dont like to wash him/her in soapy water. I dont know, why, but in separating time I was a feel like I leave part of me somewhere, so always I leave my stone front of me opposite my vision.
But my nice navy colour - go away!
This stone now is absolutely different! Was a changed colour!
Now is little bit milky/cloudy and delicate navy spots in middle like eye (make pattern)-more transparent.
On middle, along of eye running line from top for the bottom and from this line going different lines for left and right sides - make like leaf nerve -pattern, but this lines look very nice and the light is breakdown in this places. Lines don't looks like usually lines, look like separate pieces put together.

Yesterday after reading this topic, I put my stone under running water, and then I take them outside and leave them on soil in my garden.
I or her/he was a lucky, because at this night was rain and storm with thunderbolt’s.
But when I was separate my stone and leave in garden, I was little bit sad about that, also I was feel them don’t like to separate with me!
May be because I was a wear this pendant day and night last few months and I was a feel – badly with out them?.

Please say Maureen what you think about that?

- What kind of crystal is that?
- Cant this is a Female? You say: "If you want to find out the whether your crystals are male or female then dowsing is a good way of recieving that information.", but I not understand what is a "dowsing"
- Can I doing wrong, when I was a pick up this stone from ground?

I feel exactly the same about my pendant MariaMucharska. When I was at school, I had a really bad time during my exams and my mum gave me her pentacle necklace (it was small, with an amathyst in the middle of it) and it always felt like a she was with me where ever I went. I only ever took it off once and that was because I had to wear another necklace for an evening meal....that night it just dissappeared......I never saw it again!!!. And I felt totally naked without it, like I wasn't protected anymore, which scared me.
So on my 21st birthday my mum brought me another pentacle pendant, this time with a moonstone in the middle (she has one as well, exactly the same) and now I won't take it off at all......not even when I sleep, bathe or work out!!!!!.........and if I have to take it off my kneck I'll wrap it around my wrist and wear it as a braclet. It's weird, I feel if I'm not wearing it then I am not protected!!!

hello there hoping you guys can give me some advice re crystals as you seem to know a fair bit. Basically a friend of mine has bought a pendulum ameythisy crystal and has been "divining with it" . By divining i mean she holds the crystal , asks a question then waits for the crystal to answer by circular or lateral swing. She then says "thank you stop" and the crystal stops.
I have a few issues/probs with this.
Firstly, she has no psychic ability and claims that its her guardian angel who makes the crystal move.
Secondly it seems TOO much that every time she asks for oit to stop it stops.
Lastly im worried she may be getting herself into something she doesnt understand. She was told she had a dark prescence in her house and this has launched her "psychic awakening"
As someone with a long held interest in the paranormal am i correct in thinking she is no more than a dabbler who could be in for a shock?

Does it stop dead?.......scuse the pun!!....lol......I mean when she says stop, it stops straight away and doesn't move?
Because in my experiance, thats not natural!!.....a pendulum will always have some movement in it when dowsing because thats the natural movement of your body.

If she is properly protected when dowsing, then this bad presence shouldn't be able to touch her. But I don't think there is anything dangerous with the pendulum dowsing itself, when I got my first pendulum it worked straight away, if it is something you saw in a shop and it jumped out at you and you had to buy it then to me that means it has a connection with you, and in my experiance of any divinaton tool, it has worked pretty much straight away.

But you are right, if you don't know what you are doing then you shouldn't dabble!

Mind you, maybe Maureen is a better person to advise on this as she knows more about the stones themselves.

Hi MariaMucharska, sorry for the delay I have been away working. Well first I dont think that you did wrong by picking up your crystal from the soil, in fact it sounds as if your crystal found you, maybe it was looking for a good and loving home. I understand about not wanting to be separated from a favorite crystal, but remember that your crystal absorbs energies that come from within and around you, especially if it is a protection crystal, and your sounds as if it is, that is why you feel so comfortable when wearing it. Because it absorbs energy not all of it good, it does need regular cleansing and energising so that it can continue to work efficiently for you. It sounds as if it could be a slice of agate, these do have some beautiful patterns in them, natures artist. It comes in colours of banded White, milky or grey, also shades of green, brown, red, blue or black. It is used for general strengthening, grounding and stabilizing of physical energies. It can also be used for universal healing, and bringing about vitality and inner harmony. It is good for animals, plants and children. If the pattern on the crystal depicts an eye to you, then take that as a symbol of its use, it may well be benificial in areas like perception, clear seeing, clairvoyance. I do know that some crystals apear to change colour this may be due to the enviroment or the body chemistry of the wearer. Dark colours are not bad they are very grounding and protective. Maybe we should do a little section on dowsing so that everyone understands about the subject, and maybe we can persuade Magenta to write about it, then you will know how to find out more information about your crystal. In the mean time enjoy it and treat it as a friend.

Hi geoff, well I dont necessarily think that your friend is dabbeling with anything bad, but maybe she needs to understand a little more about dowsing and crystals. You say that she has bought an amethyst crystal pendant, Well in the old days Amethyst was carried into battle to preserve the wearer from harm. As an amulet it was supposed to dispel insomnia and sharpen the intellect as well as being an antidote for poison. Leonardo Da Vinci wrote " Amethyst was able to dissipate evil thoughts and quicken the intelligence". It is very possible to programmes a crystal pendant to respond to instructions from its owner. I doubt that it stops instantaniously, but proberbly comes to a rest to await the next instruction. One does not need to necessarily be a psychic or medium to do dowsing, as the crystal responds also to mind energy, that is why I worry that people will take its word as gospel, and not use their own common sense, when the answer could also be part influence from the mind of the user. I would recomend that she take a course in dowsing ( they are available) then she understands the energy and the correct use of her dowsing pendulum, in this way she will be more confident and secure in the knowledge that she is not being influenced by her own desires and wants. The crystal itself will cause no harm, Amethyst is full of originality and inspiration and can be a great teacher. It is power and humility combined, and it can instill therse same qualities in those who wear or work with it. Amethyst brings spiritual dedication, which makes it a powerful and positive meditation stone.

I don't mind writing a little about crystal dowsing, although I'm not all as good with the names of stones as you are rainbowlady, but I'll give it a go if you like.

p.s. 3 days before the full moon we had 3 days of storms where I am, so I put my crystals out for the whole time (lol...I hung them on the washing line!!) When I brought them in after the full moon they felt really heavy.......it was really strange!!.......is that a sign to say that they are fully charged?.....as I have never felt anything like that at all!

It sounds to me that the natural elements of the storm certainly had an effect upon your crystals, i dont know if it can actually change the weight, maybe that is an experiment we could try next time, weigh them before and after, it would be interesting if there was a difference. It could also be that you were feeling the extra energy of charge being held by the crystal, as it would contain all those natural energies plus the full moon energy, which for me is a very powerful energy on its own. I think that it would be very helpful for members if you could do a write up and some simple examples of how to use dowsing pendulums and dowsing rods even,to find out information about your crystals.
